Old School Art Attack: New Warriors envelope

Holy crap! My mom was going through a bunch of my old junk at home and found this little treasure...

It took me a sec to figure out what it was, but despite the blurriness, I recognize the name of the letters column from Marvel Vision, the Marvel fan magazine of the mid-90's. I wrote my first and only letter to a comic to protest the 1996 cancellation of New Warriors. It got published, although they misprinted part of it so it said NW was always in Wizard's "Top 10" (I said "Top 100," because the other thing is inaccurate). The response was something generic about Bob Harras reading every letter, maybe they'd be back, yada yada yada...

I totally don't remember creating this masterpiece though! Why would they return such a work of art? No idea--clearly this is why Marvel went bankrupt once upon a time before I was around to steer the ship.

So from top left clockwise, that is...Turbo, Hindsight, Justice, Firestar, Rage, Speedball, Timeslip, Night Thrasher, Powerpax, Namorita and, of course, Nova.

Some observations:

-My concept of drawing breasts at the time seems to have been to just make two circles and then erase the tops.

-I don't think the hairstyles I gave Hindsight, Justice and Powerpax are possible under the laws of physics.

-I may be the definitive Hindsight artist of my generation (sorry, Patrick Zircher).

-Good on me for taking the time to draw all those bubbles on Speedball's costume.

-I may be the definitive Rage artist of my generation (sorry, Darick Robertson).

-Why the hell did I include Timeslip?

-Oh, Nova...I love your long, flowing, luxurious hair...

Where is your New Warriors VILLAINS envelope? The Bengal, Sea Urchin, Cardinal, Psionex, the Folding Circle ... I want 'em all!
And yes, I know Bengal was technically a Daredevil villain first...

I think Sea Urchin was technically a Namor villain first also.

Dude, I could do a rad double sided envelope with just Psionex and the Folding Circle.

Did I ever show you my Bagley New Warriors page? It has Night Thrasher and Namorita fighting Psionex. It's not that awesome, but it only cost me $20.

Fuck! I gotta see me that.

I love Psionex.
