-Name to me anything that can't be improved by mixing it with the Infinity Gauntlet.
-It's weird, but the thing I'm most impressed about with Gene Ha's Batman & Robin cover is the care he took in drawing the parts of Batman's back we can see. Anybody can draw a screaming figure, but seriously, it's details like those that separate the pros from the pack.
-Jo Chen Hellboy!
-Adi Granov's Captain America: Hail Hydra covers have had an extra pop to them I feel his work, beautiful though it always is, sometimes lacks. I think it's something to do with the colors; they seem brighter for some reason, less muted.
-I'm disappointed the 70's era version of Robotman seems to be missing from that Doom Patrol cover, or at the least it's not jumping out to me.
-Mike Allred has been doing this a long time and still seems like he's always looking for ways to top what he did last.
-Not really art-related, but I think the cast of Justice League: Generation Lost should inherit the Outsiders name/book when their series is over if nobody's using it.
-Darick Robertson's Conan is pretty much perfect, I think.
-That Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates cover by Leinil Francis Yu is homage done very right.
-Terry Dodson's Uncanny X-Men cover could be a great movie poster. It almost looks like Star Wars or something.
-That Venom cover by Tony Moore is also homage done very right.
-Adam Hughes is very good at what he does.
Covers I never hope to see in the Art Attack column for the near future:
ReplyDelete- Avengers vs Pet Avengers.
- Secret Avengers (the variant for 6 was hideous).
- Strange Tales II.
- Thor and the Warriors Four (Beta Ray Bill - need I say more?).
- Tiny Titans.
Since most of those series have wrapped, you should be safe, but I can almost assure you I will keep including Tiny Titans covers, and I'm certainly not ruling Secret Avengers.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry but whoever is Anonymous is crazy. Pet Avengers is, hands down, one of the best series Marvel Puts out. It mixes obscure characters, humor, kid friendly content, and tons of continuity all in one package. And the art is fantastic.
